Products reach “End of Life” (EOL) due to reasons such as changes in market demand, availability of parts, or being replaced by newer products. This document describes the Hamer-Fischbein Product End of Life process, which consists of two steps:
1. End of Product Sales; 2. End of Service.
The intent of this process is to assist customers with planning their parts inventory and to communicate the remaining service options for products nearing the end of their availability and support:
1.End of Product Sales:
A Product Notification will be issued by Hamer-Fischbein prior to discontinuation of sales of a product. The Product Notification will specify the date for End of Product Sales. The End of Product Sales is the date after which no additional orders for product will be accepted.
Replacement parts, spares and consumables will continue to be available for sale after the End of Product Sales Date for a period lasting, at least until the End of Service date.
- Controls Platform
Controls platform (PLC) availability is dependent on the manufacturer of the control and not Hamer-Fischbein. If a controls platform manufacturer ends support for a controls platform before the end of service for the product, Hamer-Fischbein will support the product with a substitute controls platform. Customers will be notified that their controls platform has reached end of life and service may require upgrading the controls platform at additional expense depending on the nature of the repair.
- Third Party Products:
Third party products availability is controlled by the manufacturer and not by Hamer-Fischbein. If a third party manufacturer ends the production of a specific product (i.e., a part of assembly) and\or ends support for a specific product line before the end of service for that product, Hamer-Fischbein will support the product with a substitute part if there is availability. Customers will be notified that their third party product has reached End of Life (EOL) and the H-F service group may require upgrading the part at additional expense depending on the nature of the repair. The End of Life (EOL) for a specific Hamer-Fischbein system or machine would override any and all parts or assemblies included in that specific machine.
2.End of Service:
Hamer-Fischbein may end service for a product following a minimum of ten (10) years after the End of Product Sales date. Although every effort will be made to service products as long as feasible, End of Service may be required due to unavailability of replacement parts including third party products.
Following the End of Service date, Hamer-Fischbein will make every feasible effort to provide parts for those products.
This policy is effective for products reaching End of Product Sales after January 1, 2020. Please contact your Hamer-Fischbein Representative if you have further questions.
This policy only pertains to Hamer-Fischbein products that are manufactured, sold and serviced by the company.
