Integrated Omni-channel Solutions for Primary and Secondary Packaging of Consumer Packaged Goods
Plymouth, MN and Schiller Park, IL — September 9, 2019 —Hamer-Fischbein and ARPAC, designers and manufacturers of highly engineered primary and secondary packaging equipment and members of the Duravant family of operating companies, are pleased to launch an innovative ecommerce packaging solution featuring combined technologies from both companies. The integrated system will be on display at Pack Expo Las Vegas, September 23rd – 25th in booth C-4218.
With the continual growth of ecommerce, omni-channel retailers are turning to brand owners to help them efficiently manage their distribution processes by offering better tailored packaging solutions that can withstand challenging ecommerce shipping environments while enhancing the customer experience. As more and more brand owners are taking ownership of primary, secondary and ecommerce packaging, Hamer-Fischbein and Arpac have collaborated to design machinery systems that can deliver multi-format packaging solutions.
Hamer-Fischbein and ARPAC’s “bag-in-a-box” integrated line provides right-size packaging that helps to lower return rates by preventing shipping damages, increases brand identification, and improves customer satisfaction with frustration-free packaging. “Shipping bagged products like pet food, household and garden supplies, and other larger-format bagged items purchased through e-commerce can be extremely challenging,” said Ed Pickens, Director of Engineering and Product Development for Hamer-Fischbein.
The system is designed to manage primary and secondary packaging in one system. Hamer-Fischbein bagging technology fills and seals bags upstream. Bags are then directed onto conveyors for their secondary packaging destination. Those intended for retail shelves are diverted towards a palletizer. Those intended for e-commerce fulfillment are directed to ARPAC’s DPM motion wrap-around case tray packer where they are boxed in right-size corrugated packaging. Hamer-Fischbein’s robotic bag palletizer, positioned downstream, utilizes an innovative end-of-arm tooling to simultaneously palletize both retail bags and boxed bags, onto two separate pallet configurations.
“We’re committed to our customers’ success by offering innovative, tailored packaging solutions that comply with the ecommerce industry’s most rigorous requirements,” adds Pickens.
Mike Allegretti, Marketing Manager for ARPAC added, “We’re excited to collaborate with Hamer-Fischbein on this bag-in-a-box ecommerce solution. Using secondary packaging to add corrugate is a great way to protect bags that are shipped to consumers. We always strive to deliver creative and cost-efficient solutions, and with this system we’re able to give our customers the flexibility to package their products for multiple distribution pathways.”
